Lilley's Landing Day 2

Today is our 18th wedding anniversary, and the 3rd straight year we have been on summer vacation. 

3 years ago we were at a lavender farm in Florida on the way to the Keys.  We met some family that had moved near there for supper.

2 years ago it was Padre Island riding horses on the beach

Last year we were north of New Orleans, again heading for South Florida, staying at the Sun Outdoors.  Don's Seafood was a nice place.

This year we return to an old favorite - White River Fish House in Branson at Branson Landing.

The weather looks to turn rainy today ahead of Hurricane Beryl and a cold front.  

Back home some areas are getting pounded, especially south and east Texas.  

Prayers for everyone in the storm's path.  We are supposed to be in Galveston next week.  I suppose that depends on the damage and clean up required.

After lunch we spent some time fishing on the docks.  I caught one nice rainbow trout but other than that, it was slow.  Hearing the rain on the metal roof was nice, though.

Texas BBQ brisket for supper, strawberry wine, and a bit more fishing makes for a nice day.  Back to fish a bit more - my total for the day?  3 nice rainbows for the grill later in the week!

1st Morning at Lilley's Landing

Summer vacation began yesterday!  This year it is a bit different.  Instead of an epic road trip we settled into old comfort in a couple of planned smaller trips.

Yesterday we arrived at Lilley's Landing in Brandon, Missouri.  We have been coming here for 40 years now.  We missed a few years, but now these trips have been fairly consistent.

We are in Cabin 6 - small, but cozy.

Our first morning was cool before the sun crested the mountain across the river.  Fog lingered.  Good coffee weather.

Back home Hurricane Beryl is coming ashore around Corpus this morning.  We are hoping for rain back home.  After all the rain this spring things have gotten dry again.  Cooler weather is predicted both there and here this week, and the residual rains may reach us here.  

Today is a relaxation day.  We will get our fishing licenses, fish from the dock and debate renting a boat.  

I look forward to the day we bring a boat back up here.  

It was a quiet day, and we ended it with some time by the water.  The fog rolled in around 8:30 pm.

Stillwater Resort for Memorial Day

There hasn't been much camping over the last year.  A few days in October at Tyler Jellystone, half a week in Fredericksburg for Spring Break, and that's about it.  A tough school year and a teen has made taking the RV out tough.  But we managed to book Memorial Day at Stillwater RV Resort in Winona.

We arrived on Saturday because Friday night was a graduation Steph had to attend, but it allowed the saturated ground to dry a bit.  It has been weeks for almost continual storms and rain.  In fact, we required 4x4 action to get out of the shed.

Saturday was crazy and this place was packed.  The humidity was oppressive, but that made the lazy river all the better.  Things Monday quieted down significantly, and it became the first time I could take a few pics.  

The resort offers a credit for first responders, including VFDs, so we used it for a pizza at the cafe.  It was really good and a great option for those not wanting to cook (like me tonight 😜).

Heading home tomorrow, but we will return to Stillwater when time allows.
