#Summer2021's first time out - Fairfield Lake State Park

The aftermath of Covid and the tremendous growth in RVing has let to a difficulty in finding spots.  The last few weeks has been consumed with the end of school and the planning of our summer trip to the Florida Keys.  So, when a few spots came open at FLSP, we jumped on it.  The reservations were made about a month out.

Stephanie and Sadie had off Friday so we set out on Thursday at the end of the workday.  It took about an hour to reach the campground. The office was closed so we were instructed to take care of that in the morning. The gift shop/office was well stocked with goodies.  We bought some field guides (mushrooms, trees, and birds) and a camping and a birding journal, along with our customary fridge magnet.

The weather was forecasting rain, but it held off except for some light showers.  At home, however, we had over 9 inches.  So in that, we dodged a bullet.

Coincidentally the sites we chose were some we had stayed in years before, but with much improvement.

We stayed in the Cook's Ferry campground, but easily were able to walk to the other two.  Across the road was a large meadow with sand volley ball and swing sets were right around the corner. Access to the nature trail was easy as well. After all the rain we had fun photographing unique mushrooms and toadstools.

One of our favorite activities was an invented game of Beach Ball Volleyball!  Fun!

This was a fantastic trip and we are already trying to plan another outing to Fairfield Lake State Park!

Jamaica Beach, Day 4

Today started slow, as vacation days should.  No real plans other than a bit of shopping and a nap. Quick breakfast and then helped Brandon....
